The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is part of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. I visited it on the 27th Oct. 2019 for the first time and this album and others are from that visit and a later one.

Zo223. On Kamehameha Highway (Kam. Hwy.) coming from the West, Aiea, we make a right here to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center which is part of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. We see the new elevated Honolulu Rail System running towards the Honolulu airport. A little ahead are the entrances to the Pearl Harbor Halawa Gate and CINCPACFLEET.
Zo224. After we make the right turn from Kam. Hwy., we have this view, ahead is the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, left is parking for organized tour operators. Right is plenty of free parking for POWs. Some public busses even drive in here with passenger going to the memorial.
Zo225. Then we make another right turn and this is the road that runs to the Pearl Harbor Rainbow Marina. Dead ahead we see the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, part of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial. The public busses drive into that access road; it even has a “Bus Only” sign.

When I did it, it went this way; the gate opens at 7am, I arrived at 6:45am and was 3rd in line. The tickets are time slotted; I received a 1st boat ticket for 7:30 am. The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center grounds are free and there is a lot to see.

This is the center office or booth for the free USS Arizona, -Oklahoma and the USS Utah Memorial but I believe you have to pay for the bus shuttle service to Ford Island. The boat service to the Arizona Memorial is free; it is provided by the U.S. Navy. I walked to Ford Island via the new Bridge.

This is the right ticket office or booth for the Battleship USS Missouri Memorial, the USS Bowfin submarine Museum and the Pacific Aviation Museum, all three cost money and two need additional bus shuttle fees. For the two locations on Ford Island one has to use the organized shuttle trip and stay within the limits of museum and memorial less you hold a Military ID.
Zo237. Just outside and inside the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center gate are information plaques or signs as to what and how to see them. If you have a car, no problem, lock them up in there. If you don’t have a car you only got this choice or cancel your visit.
Zo238. At the entrance to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, the guards are very strict about what size bags can be brought in.

I bought this book at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center book and souvenir shop, I found it fascinating that two out of three Japanese-Americans on Niihau took the side of the landed Japanese Pilot. I read and heard about the Niihau incident! As a German immigrant I wonder about this subject of aliens helping the invading force of the same nationality. We know many Japanese Americans and also some German and Italian Americans were held in custody in the US because of that fear. Living in the Philippines, aware of the WWII history there and I have read many times in books about Japanese Filipinos became Japanese Imperial Officers or served the Japanese Occupying Forces in other ways. I’m wondering!
