Somewhere in Corregidor Proboards I had seen a photo similar to the one attached with FDR looking at the camera. Attached photo I bought is the one used for the attached article. You’re welcome to add it if you like. One interesting point, if you look at MacArthur’s hand where he is holding what seems to be a cigar, and sleeves on him and FDR it’s obvious someone highlighted them with pen to make them stand out more. In the photo I bought you can clearly see the highlighting done over the photo so I know it’s the original photo.
Have to hand it to FDR, for a man suffering from polio, he took a lot of trips to the European and Pacific theaters to push the war forward. Couldn’t have been easy for him.
There are a couple more photos in other papers of this same moment, heads turned slightly differently, etc., so I guess whoever took the photos sent out a few of the best ones for publication. You can see how much detail was lost in the printing of the photos in the paper versus the original photos. I guess that was as good as technology allowed for photos in papers back then.

The decision, go to the Philippines or Formosa (Taiwan)?
In my opinion, President Roosevelt made the right decision to liberate the Philippines. As I read history, saw the news pictures and film with the boundless joy and relief demonstrated by the Filipinos, POWs and the Internees, there is no doubt in my mind that the decision to liberate the Philippines was at the minimum, the right and most honorable decision.
Having read much history about the Philippines and the U.S.A. I’m struck and amazed again and again that the vast majority of the Filipinos were boundless loyal to the cause of liberty, that countless Filipinos risked and many gave their life in supporting resistance against the Imperial Japanese occupation. The many Americans who organized and rose to guerrilla leader positions were only possible due to the amazing support of the Filipinos.
Of all the history I know, I do not know of any foreign General who is so greatly, respected, admired and honored by other nationalities, like General of the Army Douglas MacArthur, not only in the Philippines, but also in Japan (ex enemy), South Korea and Taiwan, formerly National China under Chiang Kai-shek.

This document, in my view, is undo critical of Gen. MacArthur. To me, it seems, that at this time they already had many Political Correct Writers and news men!!!!!!!!
