The Battle of the Villa Verde Trail was fought along the trail and thru the Salacsac Pass joining San Nicolas in Pangasinan and Santa Fe in Nueva Vizcaya across the Caballo Mountains. It was fought by the 32 Division from Feb. to May 1945. Many Filipino residents from the San Nickolas area helped in many ways.
The Japanese lost 5,410 at Salacsac Passes. The Battle of Villa Verde Trail, or the Battle of Salacsac Pass, cost the American 32nd Division, 825 killed, and 2,160 wounded.
For both, the Battle of the Balete Pass and the Villa Verde Trail, the casualties among Filipino Commonwealth regulars, Constabulary and guerrillas were 285 killed and 1,134 wounded in battle. The Japanese 10th Division and 2nd Tank Division were finished as effective combat units.

Perry Rowe, operate a 30-caliber heavy machine gun of the 127th Infantry Regiment supporting other element of their regiment on the Villa Verde Trail in the mountains Santa Maria and Santa Fe. Note from Karl: Barrio Santa Maria East is the last barrio in Pangasinan, belonging to San Nicolas Municipality, where the Villa Verde Tail starts.

111-SCA-Album_2968_019. The description of this image is unreadable. In my opinion we are looking to Yamashita’s Ridge, Mount Imugan, refer to the map, presented earlier in this album. This weapon and crew obviously give fire support on the Villa Verde Trail.

111-SCA-Album_2968_021. The description of this image is unreadable. In my opinion we are looking west; the near ridge at left is where the Villa Verde Trail ascends from Pangasinan and then crosses over.

111-SCA-Album_2968_027. The description of this image is almost unreadable. I think, it writes about a truck on the Villa Verde Trail. Note from Karl: This is a classic view of the Villa Verde Trail today, or better the new highway being build from Pangasinan to Nueva Vizcaya. The view is about 3 to 5 km up from the Pangasinan side and the view is back onto the Pangasinan Plain.

111-SCA-Album_2968_029. The description of this image is almost unreadable. I think, it writes about the road of the Villa Verde Trail. Note from Karl: This is a classic view of the Villa Verde Trail today, or better the new highway being built from Pangasinan to Nueva Vizcaya. The view is about 2 to 3 km up from the Pangasinan side and the view is back onto the Pangasinan Plain. Referring to the earlier map in this album, down in front runs the Cabalisian River from left to right and that is the area of Santa Maria. Today there are a Santa Maria East and West.

Start of 3rd segment with 12 images. In this 3rd segment some of the descriptions are so bad that I will post only a few and the rest of them and I will just interpret them as best I can.

The Battle of the Villa Verde Trail was fought along the trail and thru the Salacsac Pass joining San Nicolas in Pangasinan and Santa Fe in Nueva Vizcaya across the Caballo Mountains. It was fought by the 32 Division from Feb. to May 1945. Many Filipino residents from the San Nickolas area helped in many ways’
The Japanese lost 5,410 at Salacsac Passes. The Battle of Villa Verde Trail, or the Battle of Salacsac Pass, cost the American 32nd Division, 825 killed, and 2,160 wounded.
For both, the Battle of the Balete Pass and the Villa Verde Trail, the casualties among Filipino Commonwealth regulars, Constabulary and guerrillas were 285 killed and 1,134 wounded in battle. The Japanese 10th Division and 2nd Tank Division were finished as effective combat units.

Note from Karl: I’m sure we are looking in a West direction where the Villa Verde trail comes from San Nicolas, Pangasinan. The photographer is on the Caraballo Mountains Spur; the Salacsac Passes and Yamashita Ridge, actually Mt. Imugan would be to the right of the photographer.

Start of 8th segment with 7 images and 7 images descriptions.

The Battle of the Villa Verde Trail was fought along the trail and thru the Salacsac Pass joining San Nicolas in Pangasinan and Santa Fe in Nueva Vizcaya across the Caballo Mountains. It was fought by the 32 Division from Feb. to May 1945. Many Filipino residents from the San Nickolas area helped in many ways.

The Japanese lost 5,410 at Salacsac Passes. The Battle of Villa Verde Trail, or the Battle of Salacsac Pass, cost the American 32nd Division, 825 killed, and 2,160 wounded.

For both, the Battle of the Balete Pass and the Villa Verde Trail, the casualties among Filipino Commonwealth regulars, Constabulary and guerrillas were 285 killed and 1,134 wounded in battle. The Japanese 10th Division and 2nd Tank Division were finished as effective combat units.
