Gen. MacArthur’s last peacetime photo
Which one is it, you decide?
My friend John Duresky bought a copy and found two conflicting news papers claiming to be the latest peacetime pictures of the General, but is different. He said this:
So, which one was the last peacetime photo of MacArthur? I picked up this Wirephoto; caption on the back of it is attached below the picture. In newspapers from that time, I find it and the one with Wainwright both claiming to be the last photo. The one I bought was clearly taken indoors.
Wirephoto says “Associated Press from US Army Signal Corps”, same as the 1942 2 24 article with him alone. The photo of him with Wainwright

John Duresky is the researcher of the writing team of the new book “Relentless Hope: A True Story of War and Survival, by David L. Britt”. I have helped him out with some information and John Duresky is sharing almost all his finds with me. Thank you very much, John.
Note from Karl: The San Francisco Examiner, dated the 24th Feb. 1942, has the 2nd Chapter of Bob Considine’s brilliant biography of General Douglas MacArthur, hero of the Battle of the Philippines.
