Bon Ot Big to Genablan Walk 2025-05-19.

#11 Image

#05 to #11 images are of the stretch of road from Bon Ot Big to the point where I descend to Barangay Genablan Oriental. We see the lovely coconut areas above the San Bernadino Strait, the road concrete laid has almost reached Genablan, the mouth of the Genablan River and Genablan Occidental on the west side of the river. And we see the construction notice sign.

Every May the family travels to Bon Ot Big, Matnog Town in Sorsogon Province to celebrate the Annual Village Fiesta. We maintain a residence here. For me it is a change of routine and I walk and swim to keep me busy. Today I did my first walk to see what changed in the construction of a new highway up the west coast of Sorsogon Province. I estimate the walk was 11 or 12 km long (to and back) and had an about 200 meters elevation gain. It is hot here and I walk very slow with a lot of stops; remember I am 83 years young now.

This presentation in Karl’s webpage has only 13 images. If you like to see all, see below here:

#12 to #17 images are of the new road cut above Genablan Oriental running in the up-river direction, coconut harvesters are tossing the coconuts down to be husked. We see the temporary bridge road over the Genablan River with culverts installed for the river water to flow up and down, the tides reach this spot.

#18 to #29 images are scenery shots from my walk from the temporary bridge road, in an up-river direction, then west and up a hill the “Spot A” on my graph. So, these shots are mainly about the Genablan River Valley and the ridges and hills around it. When I crossed the Bridge Road, I turned right and went up-river. The future new road will turn left, down-river and up the ridge to the next coastal village; will walk it next time.
