Battery Sunset

Battery Sunset of Ft. Mills on Corregidor Island had four 155mm GPF guns, installed on Panama Mounts. They were located along and above Grubbs Trail, between Battery Smith and Cape Corregidor.

Zc511. Philippine Scouts made a lasting reputation with 155mmGPF guns. A Japanese soldier snatched a watch. The Japanese NCO returned it with apologies. The Japanese soldier was knocked down by the NCO.

VISITORS AT THE BATTERY SUNSET MAGAZINE

For a change I will upload some pictures of people who visited the Battery Sunset Magazine.

Zc530. That is armyjunk, a frequent contributor to the forum, at the concrete entrance way to the Battery Sunset Magazine. This is a 2006 March 6th image, on my recent visit in July this year; I did not notice that tree at the entrance. This means one more thing to check on next year.

Zc531. This was a visit in March 2006 with a Coastal Defense Study Group party (CDSG, cdsg.org). We are inside the Battery Sunset Magazine, in the former Fort Mills on Corregidor. This place is of interest to many because of the many beer and other bottles are lying around. This is a 2006 March 6th image.

  1. My name is JAMES C. McNeely JR. My father JAMES C. McNeely Sr. was in the 503rd and parachuted onto Corregidor in Word War II. As you can see the correct spelling of our last name ( McNeely ) here. However on the web site of the 503rd roster our last name is incorrectly spelled as McMeely. In honor of my father our family would greatly appreciate the correct spelling of our last name. I respectfully and humbly ask for this request. Thank you, James C. McNeely JR.

    1. Hello James
I don’t see the name of your father displayed at all on this or other webpages of mine. So, there is nothing to correct on my webpages. There are two links listed on my Battery Sunset page which belong to the huge Corregidor.org group of webpages. I will forward your comment to that organization. Thank you for viewing my webpage and making your comment. Karl
