Manila devastation in World War II was second only to Warsaw. Governor Stan Hathaway knew what he was talking about. Over 100,000 civilians were killed, mass murders committed and cultural and architectural heritage destroyed. Is it any wonder the Filipinos want missing parts of their cultural heritage back? Is it any wonder that people cannot understand giving Bells back to Japan and not the Philippines?
