Zd192a This Google Earth Image is very similar than the 1945 image #Zd190. We see the National Highway #5 descending from the Balete/Dalton Pass to Santa Fe, it is about 7km. We see the Villa Verde Trail descending from the Salacsac Passes to Santa Fe also, that is about 18 km. Both passes, Balete and Salacsac Pass have been broken thru in May 1945 and the way into the Cagayan Valley is open, and the Allied Forces are now able to knock on Gen. Yamashita’s backdoor in Kiangan, Ifugao. I know these passes well now, been there several times.
