The VFW Post Paul P. Busek 11447 visited Corregidor Island, the former Fort Mills, on the 81st Anniversary of the Liberation of Corregidor on the 16th Feb 2026, the day of the Rock Force Assault in 1945.
We learned this about the Malinta Tunnel in Malinta Hill on Corregidor in Feb. 2026. The tunnel West Entrance is closed due to rock slides. The Malinta Tunnel Light and Sound Show is presently not available! We were given permission to enter it from the east entrance and had to exit it the same way. Lights were not available and we used our smart phone lights. We walked all the way to the west end and got a picture of a huge fuel tank of several, crushed like a beer can due to explosions in the tunnel during the liberation battle. VFW Comrade L. Alex Simmy got some fine picture with his smart phone in spite of the bad light situation.

Pictures # 12 to 17 are 6 pictures of some of the main tunnel laterals which were used for the former Light and Sound Show. In the Corregidor Forum we have a webpage about this show, click here:
In the webpage above I wrote this paragraph:The show is about one half hour; the sound track seems to be continuous. The guide took us to a white line on the ground and we listened to a segment. Then some dim wall lights came on and we advanced to the next line etc. North and south lateral tunnels were used to add to the visual presentation. The north laterals have the figures and displays and the south laterals showed movie clips. The Corregidor story and WWII in the Philippines were presented in different segments.
